Adelle Gociev is an Australian artist working in the fields of Ceramics and Drawing. Her latest work explores alternative firing techniques, connecting to her Macedonian heritage and its broader networks to European pottery and history. Gociev, experiments with both traditional and modern resources to attain unique finishes in her work. Adopting hand-coiling and building techniques, initially constituting a spherical foundation to further captivate the movement of the dynamic nature of clay. She abolishes the functional role of the ceramic object and expands the sculptural essence of the material reflecting the extensive firing process.
Gociev’s Drawing practice has similar correlations to her ceramic work. By progressing methods, shapes seem to coalesce and dissolve across the page. As water has the ability to resist the effect of an opposing substance is its driving force shifting the state of the ink. Continually altering and documenting its transformation on paper.
